About
Forge Kansas was built on a simple but powerful idea, that Central and Western Kansas are stronger when we work together. What began as three institutions serving their own corners of the region—Fort Hays State University, Fort Hays Tech | North Central, and Fort Hays Tech | Northwest—grew into an intentional partnership rooted in the belief that opportunity should be accessible to everyone, right where they are.
Our story is one of deep roots. For generations, each of our colleges has invested in the people and communities of this region—training the workforce, fueling entrepreneurial growth, and expanding access to education. But we also recognized a bigger truth: alone, our impact was limited. Together, our reach expands, our programs multiply, and our ability to serve both individuals and employers grows stronger.
The purpose of Forge Kansas is simple: to create opportunity that fuels regional vitality. We exist to meet people where they are and help them take their next step—whether that’s earning a credential, hiring skilled talent, starting a business, or launching a community initiative. By doing so, we not only support individual success, but also strengthen the economic and cultural fabric of Central and Western Kansas.
At the heart of our mission is a commitment to growth from within. By aligning our strengths, we ensure that this region has the talent, resources, and momentum to thrive for generations to come. Forge Kansas is more than a partnership—it’s a promise that we are better together than apart.
